Well that was a heck of a journey..
We finally took off 2 hours late! What a start we’ve had what with too many passengers on one flight and not really sure who was on the next!!
Most of it went over my head though as I was busying myself drinking champers and faffing with the TV.
Food was excellent on the flight paired with some more bubbles and a glass of port with my cheeseboard…
I’d also had post departure cocktails.. Bloody strong ones as well so I have to admit to being rather tipsy after all that!
Watched Black Bag - well I ditched it partway as found I wasn’t concentrating/ found it a tad boring
We landed around 5.30pm which I had always thought was the time we were meant to be landing but it turns out we were meant to have landed at 15.50!! Ha.
Passport control was an absolute breeze, you pretty much self serve at these kiosks and they have LOADS of them. Then you get a print out and go into a small-ish queue for a quick check..and I mean quick. They asked Dan why he was there, he said ‘vacation’, they asked if he was with anyone..I popped my head up and said ‘Meeee’ and he just smiled and wafted us through!!
All our luggage arrived too - though that took ages as there was a technical issue getting the cases off the plane!
Seriously I will be glad not to hear the phrase ‘technical issue’ for some time!
Hotel (Sutton Place Hotel) is lovely and our room is on the 11th floor..plenty big enough for us too.
We had quick showers and just went to the hotel bar to try to stay up until at least 10pm so we could aim to get on this time zone.
The hotel bar/restaurant (an oyster bar no less..yummy) is so nice and clearly very popular. Bit disconcerting to see women all dressed up to the nines coming in whilst a group of women behind them are all in towelling robes wandering through the hotel though π. (There’s a spa here!!)
So we decided we weren’t hungry and didn’t order and then as soon as it was too late to order and we were talking about going to our room, I was starving!! Room service appears to stop at 9pm so didn’t have that option either!
There’s a little shop in the hotel though so we shot in there and grabbed some noodle pots and snacks.
After a couple of beers we go back to the room to eat our ever so posh food and discover we have no cutlery whatsoever- not even a spoon for making brews even though we have full brew making kit!
So there I was, wrapped in a dressing gown with hotel slippers on, watching random TV eating a pot o’noodles with a pen on a Saturday night in Vancouver!! π€π»
Man I know how to live hahahaha
