It’s whale watching day!!

Yay, I slept last night all the way through to 5.30 which is normal-ish time for me but then also managed to drift off for another hour or so.  Felt so much better this morning as does D.  We’ve planned a nice lazy morning today as both mornings since we’ve got here have been up and at ‘em!  We fancied a simple breakfast in the room so I happily offered to go out and get a take out. Found a great place ‘Time out cafe’ about 10 mins walk away which suited as my legs are tight and catchy after the gym yesterday.  Salmon bagel& a kale smoothie for me and an egg and cheese croissant with iced coffee for Dan (oh and a bagel with cream cheese ‘chaser!) ha we’re so similar in our eating styles aren’t we 🤣. The couple at the little cafe were lovely. It was a small inde place and they were so welcoming when I came in to bc left my order. They asked if I live there or was a tourist and then thanked me profusely for choosing them! So sweet!  Ah it was delicious- exact...

Well the ferry journey was good (takes about 1.45hours) and I did venture onto the sundeck for a while and gave my hair a very interesting new style!!  We got a cab easy enough and headed straight to a place called Milton Street public House!  Such a descriptive name as it was indeed a public house situated on Milton Street! We headed there for lunch as both were pretty hungry by this point as it was after 1pm. Lunch was lovely (though being sat near the men’s toilet..no sorry restrooom, did provide some interesting aromas!). We headed on into the Old City Quarter which I was hoping would be really interesting with little local inde shops and cafes etc. hmm well maybe it is really interesting when the shops are open! Pretty much all of it was closed. As was the museum which had also sounded interesting! In fact the whole town felt closed and shutdown it was just really not all that!  I think I actually said it feels like a place people come to die. Dan said it felt ...

What a great day we had yesterday.. It’s such a great city with so many diverse areas. There’s a beach, a mahoosive park, a lovely harbour and little districts that feel like a quaint little small town! And we only covered a small-ish area of the city. It’s really easy to navigate around too and everyone so right, Canadians really are friendly!  Our brekkers in Yolks was delicious and then we moved on, via a trip back to the hotel for Dan’s sunglasses and cap! There was no forecast for sun and of course it made an appearance with a vengeance whilst we were eating!  We then set off towards Stanley park brewing company which was about a 30minute walk and meant we got to see quite a bit of downtown and could go via the beach.  Beach area was lovely and there’s these sculptures known as the Amazing Laughter Statues - they portray ‘the artists own image in a state of hysterical laughter’. They’re many to inspire laughter and joy. Well we had a giggle replicating a couple...

Our first day..

We didn’t do too badly for sleeping which I’m pleased about. Dropped off 11ish and both were awake at 4am (which was 11am at home) but I managed to get back off again. Dan didn’t though and was awake for a couple of hours. Anyway, he got back off for a few more hours and now it’s 10am and we’re both finally up, showered and getting ready to go. As I was awake around 7ish, I’ve come up with a bit of a plan for us for today so we can have a good wander & see a bit of the city 👏🏻 On a random note is it really only the UK that does not allow you to plug electrical devices in, in the bathroom??  I mean I’ve obviously not travelled the world so can’t really make that statement but in all the places I have been, it seems to be perfectly fine to be using your hairdryer over the sink?!!  And another note, to myself..must ask for some spoons/stirrers.  My coffee tasted vaguely of pen and noodles this morning 😉😂 Now it’s time for brekkers…we’re off to a place called ‘Y...

Well that was a heck of a journey..

We finally took off 2 hours late! What a start we’ve had what with too many passengers on one flight and not really sure who was on the next!!  Most of it went over my head though as I was busying myself drinking champers and faffing with the TV. Food was excellent on the flight paired with some more bubbles and a glass of port with my cheeseboard… I’d also had post departure cocktails.. Bloody strong ones as well so I have to admit to being rather tipsy after all that!  Watched Black Bag - well I ditched it partway as found I wasn’t concentrating/ found it a tad boring . Then I watched ‘The Kitchen’ - that was ok and then I fell asleep to Anchorman!! I had a rather excellent sleep in my little bed and woke feeling fairly refreshed and thankfully sober again!  We landed around 5.30pm which I had always thought was the time we were meant to be landing but it turns out we were meant to have landed at 15.50!! Ha. Passport control was an absolute breeze, you pretty much...

It’s finally here!!

Woohoo, today is the day at last!  Morning has gone without issue so far aside from the bloody wasp that managed to find its way in through the bathroom window whilst I was having a shower!  I’ve never felt so exposed 😂. Got Dan to sort it out after I’d dodged around it for 10 mins whilst getting dry!  On the plane now to Heathrow after a couple of cheeky Bloody Mary’s in the very strange makeshift lounge in T3. We had to drink out of plastic glasses for goodness sake - hahahaha. Doesn’t bother me but Dan has a massive aversion to them but apparently it doesn’t matter when the drink is free 🤷🏼‍♀️. Little bit of faffery on the plane before take off as there were too many passengers booked on for some reason. Lovely woman in front of us said they could take the middle seat on her row (removing the table thing that they put in for Biz Class) if it helped get us off on time.  Didn’t need to in the end and now we’re ready to depart….  Arrived in Heathrow wit...

The day before….

So only 10 months since we booked and started planning for this trip and today, the day before we leave, I realised I didn’t have a suitable suitcase 🤦🏼‍♀️. Thank goodness for TK Maxx, and Dan for searching through their ridiculous selection to find an appropriately oversized case!!  New MASSIVE suitcase purchased and now packed- to the brim. Not normally an overpacker but apparently we need to consider ‘4 seasons in one day’! No, not the song, like actually weather that brings everything 😉. As they say, first world problems…!!  Chilled evening now with a little vino and a takeaway..  Cannot wait for tomorrow!! Bring on the Business Class baby!
